Listening Blog 8

 I think I got a week ahead last week and did the week 8 blog instead of week 7. So let me know if we are on listening blog 8 or 9 this week. Thanks But for this week I decided to write about the song Sweet Home Alabama. I feel like we hear this song in a lot of tik toks or instagram reels and it is mainly known in our day and age for incest. I chose to write on the song “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It is amazing to see how a song can be popular when it first comes out in 1974 and continue to be popular all the way until basically 2022. I believe that any song able to accomplish that deserves some recognition. I like how this song has a very distinct and recognizable guitar pattern. It has a good rhythm to it to help make it more of a memorizable song. My favorite part of the song is definitely the chorus. Like any song, it is always fun to just belt out the lyrics and know it word for word and sing along. This song has such an easy chorus it made it easy for so many untalented people like myself to learn the lyrics so you could enjoy it as well.     I really liked your blog post and what you had to say about the song "Sweet Home Alabama". I do really like this song and think that it is really popular because of how easily you can find yourself singing it. Whenever I hear the song, I feel like it sparks something in my brain that makes me have it stuck in my head forever.

 Good Afternoon Music 1020 classmates. For this weeks Listening Blog I decided to write about the first song I saw on this list of choices. I am writing about the song “Papas got a brand new bag” by James Brown. The first thing that I noticed when I started playing this song was the jazz music sound. I like how you can hear each individual instrument throughout the song. He followed the basic concepts of music and  kept everything really simple. I related this song to a personal experience in my life, I spent 6 years in band class playing this at football games and I thought that it was really annoying because it was so easy. So it is nice to hear the origins of the song. I really like being able to see how music has progressed up until this point in time. I feel like this is setting everything up for the next few decades of music to come. I can hear a lot of the same concepts in this music as we hear in todays music and its really cool to me. Thank you!!
