Listening Blog 6
Good Afternoon, for this week I decided to listen to and write about the song from chapter 8 “sh-boom” by the Chords. I chose this song because it gave me so many memories from the days when I would spend countless hours watching the cars movies. This quartet published the song in 1980 and it was a hit. I am sure you have heard a few of their other songs as well. A common misconception that people have with this song is the fact that they can’t get the cars movie out of their heads to listen to the words. After listening to this great song for the third time, I started to realize that this song was a love song. I mainly got confused because of the absolute nonsense sounds that they sing. Instead of focusing on the words I focused on that a lot of the time. I couldn’t help but chuckle when I heard them. One example of this is towards the start of the song when they are singing do do do do sh-boom. There are a few others in there as well that I don’t know that there is even a way to type it.
I like how after listening to it multiple times you started to understand the meaning and words better, I feel like with music that's what you have to do to most songs before really judging it. It's almost like watching the matrix you gotta watch it at least twice to understand everything ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI can also say that this song took my back to my childhood years of watching cars. In fact, after listening to this song, I decided to watch cars again. This was definitely a different approach to a love song. This beat and words were different than what I've heard in other songs while in this class. Once I figured out it was a love song, I imagined myself in radiator springs with a girlfriend listening to this song.
ReplyDeleteHi Kyden! I chose the same song as you for this week. I like it very much. This music, in my country, is often used in commercials. It is known all over the world! I never really noticed this music in the movie Cars. The rhythm of this music is great, I love when they say sh-boom.I had not noticed that it was a love music, now that you say it, it makes sense in my head.
ReplyDeleteAh I love this song! What a classic and what's funny is that I never think of Cars, but I'm listening to the song right now and my friend literally asked, "Are you watching Cars?" And I laughed so hard!! But I get what you mean, I feel like this song you get carried away with how upbeat and happy it is that you don't realize the meaning behind it!
