Listening Blog 4
For this weeks blog post I chose to write about Hound Dog by Elvis Presley. Elvis was a world renowned singer. I believe that everyone knows of Elvis. Everyone from the older generation to the new generation. I feel like everyone teaches their kids about the “legend” Elvis. In this song you can tell how much passion he puts into all of his songs. The reason this song stuck out to me is because it is an iconic dance song. When this song came out, it instantly became a hit. Not only is it a good song, but I believe that it shaped dance music into what it is today. The main reason for this is because of how up beat this is. If you think of a dance that isn’t a slow dance, a lot of the music is upbeat and follows the same pattern as this song. And finally, I enjoy how catchy the lyrics are. If you can create a song that everyone can easily remember the words and sing along with it, then your song is going to do a ton better when it comes to the billboards. Everyone knows of at least one song that if you play the music, then they would be able to sing every word. When this song came out, I feel that it was the same.
I love that you bring up how you can tell how much passion Elvis put into his songs. With all of the songs I've listened to from Elvis all of them i've been able to tell how much he loved what he did. I totally agree with everything you said and I 100% agree that that this helped shaped dance music today.

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on that this set a standard for the dance music we have now. Because not only can you dance to this song but you can also be involved with the beat. Because there is clapping in the background that if the listener did not want to dance they could clap along or even tap their foot to the beat. I liked that you mentioned how important it is for the listener to remember the lyrics so then they can sing along. Because I think it is true that if you remember the lyrics you most likely like the song.
